This example, from our own site, shows how you can gather information
from your site's visitors to serve them better.
Database Queries
This is an example of tailoring information to visitors' specific interests.
In this sample health resources database, a person types in a health topic,
such as cancer or heart or nutrition, and we display a list of Internet
links and telephone numbers they can contact for support or more information.
This same idea can be used for many different purposes. Perhaps your organization
has brochures on various topics, or can recommend toys for different age
groups, or provides grooming hints for pets. Think about how you could
let your site visitors ask for exactly the information they need.

of e-commerce at work to sell products in the vast Internet marketplace.
Our sample store has only 5 products, and you can't really buy anything,
so you can try it without any risk. In this sample store, the product
information is stored in a database which customers can search by product
name or by category of items. In this case, the categories are
sports apparel and equipment. Some of the products have size or color
options; some have quantity discounts. We are using the powerful CartIt
shopping cart to process the orders and a mySQL database to store the
product information. One of our clients uses an Access database data entry
form that we designed to enter the information, and we upload that to the
Unix host. If all of this sounds overwhelming, we can help get everything
you need from a merchant account to order tracking.

Publicize your organization's meetings, special speakers, fund-raisers,
athletic games, and more. In this example, each month shows the US National
Health Observances for that month along with links to the sponsoring
web sites and links to other sites related to the same health topic.

Show
Say it with pictures! Give step-by-step assembly instructions, show
artisans at work, give a tour of your health spa or vacation resort.
In this example from a software site, product capabilities are shown
on each slide as site visitors view them at their own pace.
